Nuovo, moderno ed essenziale.
Affacciato sui grattacieli di Porta Nuova, questo terrazzo milanese richiede piante e arredi che scaldino l’atmosfera e definiscano gli spazi. Ne è convinto Umberto Mauri, l’architetto e designer che, con la collaborazione dell’agronomo paesaggista Elena Robbiani, responsabile della scelta delle piante, ha proposto gli interventi di cui parliamo in queste pagine. «Osservando i pannelli frangisole in listelli di alluminio, scorrevoli lungo tutto l’affaccio grazie a guide metalliche presenti su soffitto e pavimento», dice Mauri, «ho pensato di proporre cinque fioriere con ruote a sfera, quindi facili da spostare, da alternare a piacere ai pannelli frangisole per creare ambienti sempre diversi». Realizzate su misura in lamiera preverniciata dalla ditta Siggia di Meda, le fioriere misurano 150x40xh45 cm e sono accessoriate con una striscia di luci a Led nella parte sottostante, in modo da illuminare il pavimento, e con Led puntiformi inseriti nel terriccio per mettere in risalto le sagome dei bambù Fargesia rufa. Alto al massimo 2 m, questo bambù sempreverde resistente al freddo e poco invasivo, ha fogliame chiaro. Una fioriera analoga, che ospita Camellia japonica ‘Snowball’, scherma la zona situata davanti alla stanza da letto padronale. Questo angolo intimo, più stretto rispetto al resto, è arredato da un braciere a bioetanolo che permette di godere del terrazzo anche in inverno e da comode poltrone disposte sopra colorati tappeti da esterno. Sul lato corto a sud, una vasca con una piccola cascata, che favorisce il relax con il dolce e continuo rumore dell’acqua in caduta, è accostata a una fioriera dove convivono Akebia quinata, rampicante con insolite infiorescenze profumate e frutti commestibili, e Hakonechloa macra, vaporosa graminacea dal fogliame chiaro. Sul lato opposto, la parete in muratura ospita una grande griglia in listelli di metallo realizzata artigianalmente, alla quale possono venire appesi piccoli vasi con piante ricadenti come Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Prostratus’, Asparagus sprengeri, Glechoma hederacea ‘Variegata’. Infine, divani e lettini prendisole, oltre a un grande tavolo, come richiesto dalla proprietaria, arredano il resto dello spazio.

Overlooking the skyscrapers of Porta Nuova, this Milanese terrace requires plants and furnishings that warm the atmosphere and define the spaces. Umberto Mauri is convinced of this, the architect and designer who, with the collaboration of landscape agronomist Elena Robbiani, responsible for the choice of plants, has proposed the interventions we are talking about in these pages. “Looking at the sunscreen panels in aluminum slats, sliding along the entire face thanks to metal guides on the ceiling and floor”, says Mauri, “I thought of proposing five planters with ball wheels, therefore easy to move, to alternate with to please the sunscreen panels to create ever-changing environments ». Made to measure in pre-painted sheet metal by the Siggia di Meda company, the planters measure 150x40xh45 cm and are equipped with a strip of LED lights underneath, in order to illuminate the floor, and with point-like LEDs inserted in the soil to highlight silhouettes of the bamboos Fargesia rufa. At most 2m tall, this cold-resistant and minimally invasive evergreen bamboo has pale foliage. A similar planter, which houses Camellia japonica ‘Snowball’, screens the area located in front of the master bedroom. This intimate corner, narrower than the rest, is furnished with a bioethanol brazier that allows you to enjoy the terrace even in winter and comfortable armchairs placed on colorful outdoor rugs. On the short side to the south, a tub with a small waterfall, which favors relaxation with the sweet and continuous sound of falling water, is next to a planter where Akebia quinata, a climber with unusual perfumed inflorescences and edible fruits, and Hakonechloa coexist. macra, a vaporous grass with light foliage. On the opposite side, the masonry wall houses a large handcrafted metal strip grid, from which small pots with hanging plants such as Rosmarinus officinalis ‘Prostratus’, Asparagus sprengeri, Glechoma hederacea ‘Variegata’ can be hung. Finally, sofas and sun loungers, as well as a large table, as requested by the owner, furnish the rest of the space.
